1889 G$1 Gold Dollar – NGC MS67
This 1889 Gold Dollar has been certified and graded by NGC as MS67. NGC’s secure encapsulation confirms and preserves its Mint State 67 condition.
The gold dollar, also known as the $1 Gold Piece, was minted by the United States from 1849 to 1889. Designed by Chief Engraver James B. Longacre, this coin underwent three distinct design types during its production:
Type 1 (1849–1854): Liberty wearing a coronet
Type 2 (1854–1856): Liberty depicted as an Indian Princess
Type 3 (1856–1889): Enlarged Liberty head (Large Head)
The 1889 issue represents the final year of this historic series, making it especially desirable in high grades such as this MS67.
