Overview
The 2024 Gold American Eagle Proof Set continues the stunning design evolution introduced in 2021. The reverse showcases a powerful close-up portrait of an American eagle, created by artist Jennie Norris. Drawing on her background as a volunteer raptor handler and her deep respect for wildlife, Norris sought to capture the eagle’s commanding presence through its piercing gaze. As she explained, “The American Eagle is such a noble bird. I was hoping to capture the intensity of his stare… his gaze speaks of pride and wisdom passed down through generations.”
Unlike the earlier nest design by Miley Busiek, which depicted multiple eagles in motion, Norris’s composition emphasizes intimacy and realism. The lifelike detail of the eagle’s eyes and feathers gives the impression of a living creature, reinforcing the symbol’s strength and dignity.
Reverse Design Details
The reverse includes all standard Gold American Eagle inscriptions:
