The $20 Liberty Double Eagle, designed by Chief Engraver James B. Longacre, was introduced in 1849 and remained in production through 1907. The 1855-S issue, struck at the San Francisco Mint, represents one of the earliest examples produced at this important West Coast facility, adding historical depth and collectibility to an already significant piece.
