Struck from 1908 to 1929, the $5 Indian Gold Half Eagle is one of only two U.S. circulating coin series to feature a recessed (incuse) design. Designed by Bela Lyon Pratt, this series marked the final $5 gold coin intended for circulation. The 1909 issue is a highly collectible example of early 20th-century American numismatic artistry.
